I was recently sent a product for review - when it was offered to me I thought "Sure, sounds ok - give it a try".
When it arrived I thought "Sure, looks decent enough. I'll try it sometime".
Little did I realise that in my hands was one of the most impressive things that has fallen through my letterbox in recent months!
Allow me to introduce you to my new best friend......
Yes, yes I know ... I'm being rather dramatic....but you don't understand how utterly life changing this has been for me!
I LOVE mashed potato - it is one of my all time favourite foods. But my pathetic little plastic masher made mashed potato very very difficult - it took about 10 minutes of real effort and elbow grease to make mash, and even then it was always lumpy no matter how hard I tried!!
And mashing anything other than potatoes with it?! No chance!!!!
But now - this little beauty has turned everything around!
I used it for the first time this weekend while making cottage pie, and I could not believe how quick and easy it was! I was so excited I even called Jon in to show him!!
It took literally 10 seconds and 4 pushes down on the potatoes with the Masha to transform them into perfect smooth creamy mash! Not a lump in sight!
The MASHA can also be used to make stage 1 and 2 baby food, and mix cake batter or make guacamole/hummus etc.
They are available from Amazon and are usually sold for £45.00 though it is currently on sale for £33.00 - and believe me, EVERYBODY is getting one of these from me for Christmas this year!!!!
Here is an example of the Cottage Pie I made using the Masha - I love seeing different peoples cottage pie recipes as its the kind of dish that always differs from family to family!:
500g of extra lean minced beef or Quorn mince
approx. 3 carrots - peeled and cut into batons
Approx 5 large potatoes - peeled and chopped into quarters
2 Oxo cubes
Butter or substitute
*Fry Mince until brown, crumble an oxo cube over, make up gravy as directed and pour into pan. Mix and simmer for a few minutes and transfer into oven dish.
*Boil potatoes until they crumble when prodded with a knife
*Boil carrots until at desired texture
*Drain carrots and layer over the mince
*Add splash of milk and knob of butter to potatoes, and use Masha to mash!
*Scoop potato onto the carrots & mince
*Spread potato out evenly and use the back of a fork to make a pattern along the top
*Crumble an Oxo cube onto the potato
*Bake in pre-heated oven at around 200 for approx. 20 minutes or until potato is crisp on top
Have you ever tried a Masha? Does your cottage pie recipe differ to mine?! As always, I'd love to hear from you!
