Tuesdays Tip: Baker Days

I was recently sent a Letterbox Cake to review from the lovely people at Baker Days.

Being 36 weeks pregnant, I was very much looking forward to stuffing my face full of yummy cake!

But I have to admit - I was a bit unsure of how a cake could possibly be sent through the post, and pushed through a letterbox, and still remain edible!

Well when my cake arrived - I was very pleasantly surprised!
I went downstairs one morning and found a rectangular, narrow box which had slotted perfectly through our letterbox.

I wondered what it might be - and was surprised to open it and find it was from Baker Days! I hadn't expected the package to be so compact and yet be so well packaged inside!
What greeted me was a little gift card greeting from the Baker Days people, a mini packet of Love Hearts and a beautiful cake tin with the words "Just For You" on.

I was very impressed with this - as the cake tin was very pretty and can be used again, and the love hearts were a lovely little touch!

I opened the tin to have a look at the cake and was greeted by a beautiful bright pink cake with daisies around the edge... featuring a picture of a pregnant lady and the following words:

"Does my bump look big in this?! Due Date: 26/03/2013

Congratulations Mummy Hayley & Daddy Jon"

I thought this was so cute and Bean Daddy was very impressed with it too!
The cake was wrapped in celophane to keep it fresh - we opened it and cut ourselves a slice right away, the cake was really moist and really tasty!!

We kept it in the fridge, and went back for more the next day - it was still lovely!

The letterbox cakes obviously have to be small enough to fit through a letterbox, but they are a perfect size really as we managed to get 6 slices out of it and really - how much more do you want for a greeting cake?!

I think these make really lovely gifts and I will absolutely be ordering them myself in the future for family who don't live close enough for me to see on special occasions!

Baker Days offer lots of different designs and even do photo personalisation on their cakes - the letterbox cakes start at £14.99, and can be ordered for Next Working Day delivery if ordered before 2pm.
