I don't mean to be a grump, but I have always hated the heat - so the heatwave we've been having has been my idea of H-E-L-L!!!
I have found myself relying greatly on a few key products to help me survive it, and here are my Top 5!
1. Sure Compressed
All the protection you would expect from Sure - but in a compressed can, meaning the usual 150ml can has been compressed to just 75ml - half the size, making it nice and easy to carry around with me in my handbag without the extra and unnecessary weight! Perfect for keeping me nice, fresh and dry from dusk til dawn with no fuss!!
£2.19 from all good retailers
2. Zap-It!
A small but effective piezo device that generates a harmless and mild (no stronger than a gentle pinch) low electrical impulse created by crystals (this same technology is commonly used in clocks, lighters and guitar pickups) to deliver harmless little ‘zaps’ which take the itch and scratch out of insect bites. Genius!!!
£5.95 from pharmacies, health stores and www.ecobrands.co.uk
3. Huggies Little Swimmers Hygiene Mats
This has to be one of the most simple yet fantastic products I've discovered for a while!
I LOVE going swimming but I HATE the horrid changing room floors - I hate battling to dry my feet and get them into my leggings and shoes without touching the floor, and trying not to allow my towel to touch the ground!
These handy mats come in their own handy bag and fold away easily and are machine washable, and are simply there to stand on so that you don't have to touch the ground - they're actually for kiddies of course but I plan to use them myself!!
They can also be used for laying baby on to change them, or at the beach when you're trying to get the sand off the kids feet before they get into the car - perfect!
4. Halo Wipes
These handy little wipes are ideal for the summer, in lightweight packets which are easy to pop into your handbag - they are ideal for keeping fresh on the go! There are deodorising wipes, Toilet wipes, eye make up remover wipes and more! They have been such a lifesaver when it comes to a quick freshen up in the blazing heat!
5. L'oreal Bronze Gradual Tanning Mist
I love to have a bit of colour when wearing sleeveless maxi dresses and vest tops, but my fairer than fair skin makes it difficult as I simply do not tan - I also find that most fake tans look VERY fake on me.
But this is the answer to my pale girl prayers! SO easy to apply - just spray it on, it dries in seconds and you're good to go!
It develops over the course of 3 hours into a nice, natural looking glow - I apply it twice a week to keep the colour going. Its subtle but beats pasty white arms!!!
What are your summer survival must haves?! As always, I'd love to hear from you!
I live in Spain, so I always carry a fan in my bag. Perfect for cooling you down on a hot summer's day.
ReplyDeleteI will look for the Zap-it the next time I visit family in London as my skin does react badly when I'm bitten.
I'm another one who doesn't tan, but I'm not convinced that I would get an even tan with a spray!
ahh yeah, fans are very handy!!
DeleteOoh the spray is sooo easy - its angled so that you can spray ALL over!
