My Mothers Day Gift Guide

Mothering Sunday is almost upon us....but worry not!
If you've yet to buy your Mum the perfect treat to thank her for all her hard work throughout the years....I have some ideal solutions for you!

There is surely something to suit the taste of all mums somewhere within my guide, so grab a cuppa and have a browse through my suggestions!

Virgin Experience Day

Surely the ultimate mothers day treat!

Virgin Experience Days have almost endless choices available, and you will be certain to find something to suit your Mum on their matter if she's the adventurous type, the hands-on type (Perfume making workshop perhaps?), the foodie type (James Martin Dinner Hamper delivered to her door?) or the type who loves to be pampered (Champagne afternoon tea for two at The Ritz?).

Of course, you may worry that the experience won't live up to all it seems to from the website description - so I was excited to recently be given the chance to try out one of the many experiences on offer for myself.

We went along for the Champagne Afternoon Tea for Two at Bovey Castle, right here in Devon.

I'd never been to Bovey Castle before, and I was impressed from the moment we pulled up - the castle was simply stunning, set amongst fields of rolling hills for miles around - there was even valet who parked our car for us!

The decor inside was beautiful - I sometimes worry in places such as these that we will seem perhaps a little out of place, particularly with a young baby in tow - but the staff here made us feel instantly at ease. In particular the waiter Samuel who made a real fuss of Tyne, and was just about the friendliest and most accommodating person we've met for a long time - more establishments need to employ staff like Samuel!

I was particularly impressed as they had no idea we were there to review, and so the service we received was 100% genuine.

Our experience day included a glass each of champagne, and a choice of teas (Jon opted for the English breakfast tea, and I tried their Rose blend which was delicious and very refreshing!)

Then arrived a selection of finger sandwhiches, traditional cream tea with jam & clotted cream, and a selection of mini pastries.

The food was lovely, and was made all the more enjoyable by the stunning surroundings.

Considering this whole experience cost just £50.00, I think the value for money is exceptional! This would be a Mothers Day treat to remember for years to come.

And this is just one of the many options available, to see what's available in your area (with many deals currently on a half price offer!) visit

Personalised Marble Stone

To me, a personalised gift really goes the extra mile to show a sentimental touch - and I think that is so very important when considering a mothers day gift.

I was recently very kindly sent a beautiful personalised marble heart-shaped stone and I was completely wowed.

As you can see from the photos, the stone came beautifully presented in a gift box wrapped with ribbon - the stone I was sent is the Light colour but you can also opt for a dark grey stone - this is such a lovely keepsake gift, and as Marble is a natural stone it can be used outdoors (I am thinking about getting one for my Nan's graveside, as I think it would be a really lovely gesture).

The hearts could be used as a beautiful paperweight, or simply displayed as a gorgeous keepsake.

They are engraved on the front with up to 8 characters, and for an additional £8.00 can also be engraved on the back.

8 Characters is the ideal amount to allow you to engrave with a meaningful date - perhaps a babies birth date, or an anniversary.

The stone I received was engraved with "Mummy" on the front, and "Tyne" on the back - which I think is just precious!

These stones are available for just £20.00 and there is also a stunning range of other marble gifts, available from

Salter Kitchen Scales

Another direction you may want to go in with Mothers Day gifts is the practical route!

Some Mums simply prefer a gift they will use every day, rather than a sentimental which case, have a think about something she's wanted for a while but wouldn't think about buying for herself.

For me personally, kitchen scales would be the way to go!
I have been meaning for years to get around to buying some funky ones, and I simply never got around to it...

These Salter scales are right up my street - the bright pink design is eye catching and quirky, and they do just the job they're meant for!

A lovely, unusual gift that will be used for years...and at just £9.99 they don't break the bank either!

Elle Macpherson Aromatherapy Foot Spa by HoMedics

A bit of at-home pampering may well be the ideal gift for any mum who is on her feet all day, and this foot spa is just bliss in a box!

I've tried foot spa's before and yes...they're fine. But THIS is something special!

This foot spa has numerous functions - including bubble massage, removable massage rollers, an aromatherapy mist diffuser and LED mood lighting to really relax you!

After just 10 minutes of use I felt utterly relaxed....the LED lighting in a darkened room was so calming, and the aromatherapy mist was the perfect way to help me unwind after a stressful day.

I cannot recommend this highly enough!

This is usually £74.99 but is currently on sale for just £49.99 from Amazon

Amaya Candles

Candles are always a lovely choice as gifts for any occasion, and Mothers Day is no different!

These beautiful Amaya Candles are both beautifully presented and smell divine!

The Pink Honeysuckle is my personal favourite, these are a safe bet choice to make any Mum smile this Mothers Day!

Available for £32.64 from

 Elizabeth Shaw Chocolate Bars

Of course, it's easy to forget that not all people buying mothers day gifts are going to be grown ups with money to spend.

What about kids who only have their pocket money?!
These gorgeous chocolate bars from Elizabeth Shaw are delicious and a real little taste of luxury, all the while being within pocket money budget at just £2.29 per bar!

The pear & almond are my personal favourite, YUM!

Available from Sainsburys stores nationwide.

Pretty Summer Dress

I know for my own Mum, clothes are always a welcome gift for any occasion!

With summer on the way, and many of us thinking about our holidays, a summer maxi dress could be an ideal gift for Mum.

I personally LOVE this maxi dress I was recently sent from Universal Textiles.

The bright, funky colours and design really make me think of summer time and heading off on holiday...just putting it on instantly lifts my mood!

The dress is very high quality - particularly when you consider the price, a steal at just £13.29! - I found the sizing to be perfect, and the neckline just right as so often I find maxi dresses can be cut to leave little to the imagination!

I can't wait for summer to get here so I can wear this out!

There are so many lovely dresses and other items available from Universal Textiles, and all at very reasonable prices....certainly worth a look!

Stunning Accessories

This gorgeous pearly owl scarf would make a perfect gift for any style-conscious Mum - Owls are so on-trend right now, and a beautiful scarf can really style up an otherwise dull outfit.

Even on days when you don't feel like going all out in the effort stakes, just adding a classy scarf alongside your favourite jeans and a blazer can take an outfit from bland to bling!

I absolutely adore this owl print scarf, and wear mine all the time!

Available for just £6.99 from fabulous online gift retailer

A shower time treat

Sometimes a simple bathtime or shower time treat is all it takes to give Mum what she really wants on Mothers personal choice of shower gel right now is Radox's mood enhancing shower gels!

Nourish & Moisturise are both lovely, but Uplifting - with its delicious Pink Grapefruit zesty scent which refreshes and revives - is my favourite!

Available from Boots, Sainsburys & Tescos stores nationwide, RRP £2.15

Say it with flowers

Flowers are of course the age-old classic, and always a welcome gift!

Make Mother’s Day truly memorable with the ultimate gift comprising of ‘The Classic Lady' bouquet and Lindt Swiss Luxury Selection. A sophisticated combination of exquisite flowers and delectable chocolates.

Available to buy in Wildabout stores and online at

Don't forget the card!

Possibly the most important aspect of Mothers Day to any Mum is, of course, the card!

My own mum would always say that she didn't mind what gift she got or didn't get, the most important thing was that the card had a nice verse!

I was recently sent an example of Hallmark's personalised Mothers Day card range and I was very adorable is this!?

There is a huge range available with prices starting at £1.99, available from

What will you be treating your Mum to for Mothers Day?! As always, I'd love to hear from you!
