The Ordinary Moments: An Hour In The Sun….

In an effort to join in with more link ups (something I always mean to do and never get around to!) I want to start joining in with The Ordinary Moments – a link up I go to and read through every week but rarely remember to actually take part in!
The Ordinary Moments is hosted by lovely Mummy Daddy Me, which is one of my all time favourite blogs to read.
This week’s ordinary moment for me was as simple as just wanting to get out of the house for an hour.
You know those days….when you can’t get the motivation up to do anything much, but you’re bored of looking at the same four walls.
When money is tight and the weather isn’t great, and you so desperately want to just get out of the house for an hour….to escape the housework, to go to a place where the shrill voice of Peppa Pig can’t reach you…..
But you just can’t think of where to go. What to do.
This was me last weekend.
I was climbing the walls but for the life of me I couldn’t think of anywhere to go.
I had our holiday balance to pay this week and with that hanging over me I didn’t want to spend loads of money on entrance fees or in shops.
The weather was miserable which ruled out most free places like parks & the beach.
But at around 4pm….there was a break in the clouds and the sun shone through. The rain stopped.
It was too late to go anywhere too far away….it was almost time for dinner.
But I so needed an escape just for an hour.
So we scrambled into the car and drove, with no clear idea of where we were headed.
I just wanted some greenery. Some air.
We drove up to Torre Abbey….a place I’ve passed many times but never actually visited.
We didn’t want to look around the abbey but we thought it might have some gardens.
And it did.
And so – for an hour – we just wandered.
We ran around in the grass, we picked daisies, we showed Tyne how to climb trees.

We took deep gulps of fresh sea air.
And we felt better.
Much better.

Sometimes these little last minute escapes for a bit of freedom outdoors are much more fun and much more welcome than elaborate, well planned days out.
Just enjoying the ordinary moments!
