Teen Edit: Loungewear Style

I’ve always been close to my eldest niece, and now that she’s a teenager – I’m finding that I have more and more in common with her. One of her latest interests is fashion and, as someone who has had a love of fashion my entire life, it’s lovely to have this shared interest with her.
Now that I’m almost 40, my taste in clothes has changed a little so I find it interesting to keep up with fashion trends through her eyes. One thing I find really amusing is how the trends I loved in the 90s seem to be coming back once again, with the likes of flannel prints and oversized shirts reminding me of the grunge phase back then – with the likes of Billie Eilish introducing teens to the joys of an oversized Dad shirt!
I thought it would be fun for us to work on a series of blog posts together, showcasing fashion from her perspective.
For our first fashion post, we decided to showcase some super casual but stylish lockdown looks – keeping the theme to comfy and casual. Certainly a trend in the fashion world right now, with womens tactical pants and cargo style trousers being the look the celebs are going for and even some of the biggest names in fashion releasing ranges of loungewear sets.

To start with, Amelie chose to showcase this adorable oversized shacket. Shackets – a cross between a flannel Boyfriend style shirt and a lightweight jacket – have been a huge trend throughout Spring, I’ve even considered buying one myself. They seem such a great option for days when you need a little something to take the chill off in the beer garden of an evening, but you don’t want to drag a fully heavy winter coat around with you!
This particular shacket comes in a choice of colours including black and light pink, but Amelie chose the sage check as she felt this was well suited to the Spring tones in her wardrobe.
It features popper style buttons, and has a pocket in the front – and Amelie raved about how comfy it was, drawing particular attention to the fleece lining which she said made it so cosy and comforting to wear! The oversized sleeves gave a real loungewear vibe to it.
Amelie chose to style the shacket with a casual ensemble of jeans and plain bandeau top, and have fave pair of kicks for an effortless but stylish everyday look.

Moving on to her second choice of outfit, no lockdown loungewear wardrobe would be complete without an oversized hoodie and leggings set, and this one caught Amelie’s eye immediately.
The hoodie and leggings come as a set – the leggings are plain and fitted in style, whilst the hoodie is oversized and features a dramatic Buffalo slogan on the back.
The set is comfy and slouchy, making it an ideal option for lazy days chilling in the garden with your bubble or going out for a bit of exercise. My niece is quite sporty, certainly more so than I am, and so this kind of style is perfect for her as it can take her from out for a run to chilling at home with minimal fuss.
I really love the detailing on the back, and the contrast of how plain the set looks from the front too.

Teamed with a high pony tail and a good pair of trainers, it’s an understated and classic outfit choice.
The set was available in a range of colours including stone, blush, pink and grey – Amelie opted for the blue which I think really suited her colouring. The fabric felt very high quality and it washed really well, too. This is a set that I think we’ll make sure to buy in a couple more colours, as she’s just bound to wear it constantly!
This loungewear set is on offer right now, and it’s a steal at just £14.99!

So which of these loungewear looks is your favourite?!  And have the lockdowns got you reaching for the comfy clothes, too?! We’d love to hear your thoughts, and if you enjoyed this post then we’ll be sure to have Amelie come back to style up some other outfits soon.
