(AD) Personalised Flower Remedies For Anxiety & Exhaustion: My Experience

I'm always interested in holistic approaches to health and wellbeing, so when I was recently introduced to the concept of flower remedies I was very intrigued.

Bach flower remedies were created in the 1930s by Dr Edward Bach who believed that illness caused by negative emotions could be relieved by flower essences. These essences are created by placing flowers into water and infusing the water with the essence of the flower.

For most people, their only experience of flower remedies will have been the popular Rescue Remedy product - I know that this was certainly true for me.

Rescue Remedy was recommended to me when I took my first long haul flight around 20 years ago, and it's a product I've used occasionally ever since - whenever I knew that I was likely to feel anxious about something such as taking an exam, going on driving lessons, even going in to have my c-section births - I always made sure to have some Rescue Remedy on me.

So when I first read about Mindful Remedies, a Brighton based company offering personalised flower remedy blends, I was intrigued by the idea of creating a personalised flower remedy that is tailored specifically to my own needs.

Because surely using a product that is designed solely with you in mind, rather than a one size fits all blend, would be much more beneficial right?

There are two ways that you can go about creating your personal blend with Mindful Remedies. You can either simply go on to the website and create your own blend by browsing the remedies available - you can search the available remedies by emotion such as anxiety, loneliness etc or by clicking on About You and selecting the things that most apply to your situation.

This will bring up a list of the flower remedies that correspond to your problem - you can then read some information about each of them and how they can help you, before deciding which to add to your personalised blend. There are sections to help you create a blend for a teenager or children too.

The website is so user friendly and informative, it really does make the experience easy for the customer.

Another way to create your blend is to have a personal Bach flower consultation via Zoom - I had a zoom consultation with Mindful Remedies founder Lucy, and I would highly recommend the experience.

Lucy was so knowledgeable about the product, and her warm friendly manner made me feel instantly relaxed and comfortable. The consultation was almost like a mini therapy session whereby I discussed some of my emotional issues with Lucy, then by answering some of her questions about my life and routine, and listening to her recommendations we were able to work together to create a personal blend that perfectly suited my needs.

After speaking with Lucy and hearing about her own personal experience of using flower remedies, I was so excited for my blend to arrive. Lucy created Mindful Remedies after experiencing the life changing results of the product for herself following a bout of Long Covid which left her struggling with exhaustion - after finding that flower remedies restored her emotional balance, she decided to qualify as a Bach practitioner herself.

Lucy says "When I began training as a Bach practitioner, I found that most mainstream brands were selling combination bottles that try to pre-select individual remedies based on a specific problem or goal without knowing anything about the person taking them. This goes against Bach’s ethos that remedies should be selected specifically for the individual and looking at their specific emotions or needs.

I decided to create a website focused solely on personalised flower remedies whereby people can tailor their remedy specifically to their needs. I wanted to create something accessible for everyone to help people create their own personalised bottle, providing them with the knowledge of the Bach’s flower remedy system and tools to help people refine which essences to pick themselves."

During our zoom consultation, Lucy & I had agreed on the following flower remedies for my personal blend:

Olive - to help combat the physical and emotional exhaustion that my chronic health conditions bring

Crab Apple - To help improve self worth

Pine - to help eliminate feelings of guilt, particularly around motherhood

Red chestnut - to reduce my anxiety and panic around the safety of my loved ones

Mimulus - To help with specific fears and phobias

White chestnut - for help with my insomnia

Vervain - To help restore some balance for people who struggle with taking on too much and overdoing things.

There were several other flower remedies that piqued my interest too, but these were the ones that felt most relevant to my experiences right now.

My flower blend arrived just a couple of days later, and the first thing that struck me was just how beautiful the packaging was.

I had expected just a non-descript dropper bottle, but instead what arrived was a beautifully presented blend that looked like a high end product with plenty of information included - I would be happy to give this product as a gift and in fact I already have friends in mind that I'd like to gift it to.

The flower blend should be taken either by placing drops directly under the tongue or in a glass of water, and you need to take 4 drops 4 times per day.

I'm now on my third week of taking the blend, and I can say that I am very impressed. The biggest improvement that I have noticed is in my energy levels - the exhaustion and overwhelm that were plaguing me and significantly impacting my quality of life a few weeks ago seem to have lessened quite dramatically.

I also feel that I'm sleeping better, and I do think that my self worth has improved too. Could it be a case of mind over matter? Well who can really say, but in my opinion - if something is improving my quality of life I'm not really bothered by exactly why that is!

I am impressed enough by the product to say that I have already decided to purchase more and try some of the other blends such as Star of Bethlehem for trauma, and I intend to purchase blends for some friends and family too.

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with Mindful Remedies throughout - and one final surprise came when I checked the price of the blends, at just £24 for a personalised blend of up to 7 remedies I think it's an absolute bargain.

As well as being a useful tool for managing emotional issues in adults, I also think Mindful Remedies is well worth a look for parents too as the remedies can be used for children - the brandy used within the blend can simply be replaced with water instead (this change can also be made for any person who wishes not to have alcohol within the product).

Overall I have been really impressed with both the service, customer experience and product provided by Mindful Remedies and would highly recommend personalised flower remedies for restoring your emotional balance and alleviating some of the mental struggles that life brings.
