As soon as a new year approaches, I always find myself turning my attention to my travel hopes and goals. I love experiencing new destinations with my family, and there are so many places I’d love to visit that it can be difficult to narrow them down. Here’s a look at some family travel ideas on my radar for 2024 and beyond.
A Return Visit To Florida
I finally ticked my ultimate travel wish off my bucket list in 2022 when we visited Orlando, Florida after having dreamed about it for a life time. I never thought I’d be lucky enough to get to visit even once, but to my amazement and delight – we’re planning to head back there in January 2024!
We were able to do this because our original trip was booked and paid for back in 2019, but was of course delayed to the situation the world found itself in from 2020 onwards. This meant we were able to keep saving while we waited for the trip to go ahead, and could afford to book a return visit upon our return when those Disney blues kicked in!
I’m so excited to get to visit Disney World and Universal Studios again, this time with experience on our side to help us hopefully enjoy it even more – with less of a focus on doing it all and more taking it slowly. We’re also visiting during January so that the weather will hopefully be cooler!
Dreaming Of A Cruise
We have been huge fans of cruise holidays since Jon & I took our first trip around the Med in 2012, and we’ve enjoyed a fair few cruise breaks here and there since. We have a trip planned on the Disney Dream for the end of Summer, which we’re all really excited about but I would love to try and squeeze in a trip with msc cruises too as I’ve heard such good things about them.
Ideally I’d love to manage a 4 or 5 night Northern Europe trip, as when we talked about family travel ideas my eldest son said he would really like to see Hanburg which is one of their ports – the great thing about msc cruises is that their prices are pretty much unbeatable, even for a family of five! There are some amazing deals to be had right now through cruise 118 which have me very tempted indeed. I’d really love to consider a Caribbean cruise in the future too as the mix of relaxing days on the beach alongside adventurous excursions really does appeal to me, and just imagine the excitement of waking up at a different island every morning! It’s a definite bucket list trip for me.
Planning For Japan
As for 2025 and beyond, I’d really like to try to visit more Disney parks around the world. First on my list will be Disneyland California but once I’ve checked this off, I’d like to visit Tokyo. Not only would it be a dream to visit Disney Tokyo but I know that my kids would love to opportunity to explore other parts of Japan too, and a Japan bike tour sounds particularly appealing. It’s quite an overwhelming trip to plan for but I’m setting my sights on it!
Iceland
I’ve always dreamt of visiting Iceland, a land of untouched natural beauty that captivates the imagination. What draws me most to this extraordinary island nation is its otherworldly landscape, where rugged glaciers, cascading waterfalls, and steaming geothermal springs create a surreal and awe-inspiring environment. I would so love to witness the Northern Lights dance across the Arctic sky, an ethereal spectacle that promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The prospect of bathing in the Blue Lagoon, a tranquil oasis nestled amidst a volcanic moonscape, is both relaxing and intriguing. The sheer diversity of experiences that Iceland offers, from hiking through breathtaking national parks to savoring traditional Nordic cuisine, is an irresistible draw and I think the best way to explore the huge array of sights this stunning country has to offer would be by hiring a campervan – Cozy Campers offer a wide range of beautifully designed, top of the range campervans that look just ideal for this.
