2025 is shaping up to be such an exciting year for our family travels! We’ve been talking for what feels like forever about all the places we want to visit, and now it’s all finally coming together. I’m already dreaming about new adventures, ticking off bucket-list destinations, and exploring new corners of the world with the kids (as well as revisiting our favourites!)
Here’s what we have planned for 2025.
Orlando, Because We Can’t Get Enough
Let’s start with the place we just can’t seem to stay away from: *Orlando*. Yes, we’ve been before, and yes, we’re going again! There’s something about the magic of Orlando that draws us back time after time. It’s not just the theme parks (though, let’s be honest, our love of Disney is a huge part of it!), but the whole experience. The sun, the excitement, and, of course, the endless fun for the kids. We can already hear the calls of the roller coasters and the parades from the other side of the Atlantic!
This time, though, I’ve been dreaming big— we’re doing a solid THREE weeks inside the Disney Bubble, which will allow us plenty of down time and rest days in between hectic theme park days – something I realised on our last trip would be really beneficial for us!
We’re also planning a couple of nights at Universal as well as a couple of nights stay at one of Disney’s premium resorts too. I’ve even been manifesting a spur of the moment stay at *Four Seasons Resort Orlando*. Can you imagine staying there? It’s the ultimate destination for luxury family holidays, and I have a feeling it would be unforgettable. The resort has its own lazy river (perfect for some downtime), incredible dining options, and—this is the kicker—a kids’ club, which means we’d get a bit of relaxation while they’re off having the time of their lives. Plus, the proximity to Disney means we can easily pop over for the day and then retreat back to pure luxury in the evening. It’s been on my dream list for years, and who knows….maybe 2025 might just be the year we make it happen!
The UK & Scotland Road Trip Dream
While I love jetting off to sunny destinations, there’s something so special about road trips closer to home, and we’ve had this idea brewing for a while—a proper UK and Scotland road trip. It’s not just about the stunning scenery (though, wow, what scenery!), but also because it’s such a fantastic learning opportunity for the kids, especially for their home education. There’s so much history, culture, and geography packed into this trip—it’s like a moving classroom!
We’d start in York—because who doesn’t love York? The history is everywhere, and the kids will be fascinated by the medieval walls and old streets as well as the Viking museum and Mother Shiptons Cave. From there, we’d head up to Newcastle for a visit to Jon’s homeland and family, before making our way to Edinburgh. Edinburgh is just the dream for history buffs, and I know the kids would love learning about the city’s past. After that, it’s on to Glasgow, Oban, and then the real adventure begins as we explore the Isle of Skye and all its wild beauty. We’ll swing by Loch Ness too—I’m secretly hoping we might spot Nessie—and then end the trip in the Lake District, where we can soak in those rolling hills and peaceful lakes.
Not only would the whole family get to see some of the most beautiful parts of the UK, but it ties in so well with the kids’ home education. From learning about ancient history in York to the geology of the Scottish Highlands, it’s an incredible opportunity to bring our lessons to life.
The Greek Mythology Adventure: Athens
Speaking of home education, my youngest has been deep into a Greek mythology project as part of his home ed, and it’s sparked this brilliant idea: a trip to *Athens*! He’s been planning the whole thing (with a bit of help from me, of course), and we’ve been dreaming about seeing the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and all those ancient ruins that tell the stories he’s been reading about.
Athens is such a fantastic destination for kids with big imaginations. I know the moment we step foot in the city, they’ll be running around pretending to be heroes from ancient myths. I can already see us spending hours wandering through the city, stopping at temples and museums, and soaking in all the history. And let’s not forget the food—I’m definitely looking forward to sitting in a little taverna, enjoying some amazing Greek cuisine while the kids chatter excitedly about everything they’ve seen.
Norwegian Fjords Cruise
One trip that’s already booked for 2025—and one we’re all buzzing about—is our *Norwegian Fjords cruise*. We’ve done one before but the kids were much younger and they don’t remember it, so we’re excited to do it again. The fjords are absolutely breathtaking, and I can’t wait to experience them with the kids. We’re planning to do lots of exploring when we dock, too—hiking, visiting charming Norwegian villages, and learning about Viking history along the way. Norway’s natural beauty is unlike anywhere else, and I’m so ready to take it all in once again!
Future Dream Destinations
Even though we’ve got a lot of travel already planned, I can’t help but keep dreaming about other places we’d love to visit. Perhaps not for 2025 given our already packed schedule, but certainly for 2026 and beyond.
Top of the list for the future is *Croatia*. The combination of stunning coastlines, rich history, and beautiful islands has been calling to me for ages. I think it would be the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure for the whole family.
*Chicago* also seems like an interesting destination. From shopping on The Magnificent Mile to enjoying a delicious meal on a Chicago dinner cruise, it seems like a world-class destination that has something for everyone. Plus, the blues music scene is amazing.
Then there’s *Italy*. We’ve been lucky enough to see a bit of Italy already, but I’m itching to see more. Rome was spectacular, but there’s so much more to discover—Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, and maybe even another visit to Venice. Italy just feels like a country that you can’t experience enough of, no matter how many times you go.
And of course, *Paris* is always in the back of my mind. It’s such an iconic city, and I’d love to wander around the Eiffel Tower, and spend time exploring the city’s museums with the kids. Plus, who can resist a bit of French pastry and a quick cheeky trip to Disneyland?
Travel is such a huge part of our lives, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us next!
