While this strategy is not bad, as it eventually gets the job done, it comes at a huge cost (time) and can easily lead to confusion and stress.
So, what do you do? You prioritize the different sections of your house based on utility and start unpacking. Start with the kitchen. Why? Because it’s the single most important part of your home. Unless you plan to order your food (which is expensive) through the different unpacking stages, it would be best to set up your kitchen.

The next stop will be your bathroom. Yeah, I understand that a bathroom is the least of your worries now. But trust me, as soon as you wake up the following day, you’ll understand why the “bathroom” should be on your priority list.
It’s where you’ll bathe, brush your teeth, and relieve yourself. So, it should be right there on your checklist. Move in all the boxes with all your bathroom items, like toiletries, towels, air fresheners or deodorizers, soap dishes, toothbrush holders, and other essentials. Clean the bathroom first and then proceed to set it up.
From here on, you can now decide what other areas of your new home come next on your priority list and schedule a time (probably on the weekend) to unpack those areas.
Set Up Your Essential Services
As you begin to unpack your stuff gradually, it’s important that you have all your essential services set up. These services, ranging from electricity, water, and gas to the internet, are all essential elements you’ll need to unpack with ease and little to no stress.
If you’ve not moved in yet, then it’s important you set them up ASAP! However, if you’ve already moved in your things and discover that some or all of these services need to be fixed, then your best line of action is to contact the various providers immediately.
Another service I’d suggest you take seriously (before moving in or as soon as you’ve moved in) is your home’s security. You need to install a home security system that will protect you from burglars and give you full access to monitor your home.
Personalize Your Space
As suggested earlier, working with a priority list is essential, even if you want to personalize your new house. Why? Well, because you don’t want to be stressed out trying to fix everything at once. A priority list will guide you on where to start working and other areas to visit as soon as you’re done.
It makes the work easier and allows you to pour out your creativity while focusing on a particular section of your apartment.
