How to soothe sore throat

It’s that time of year when winter bugs start to take over, and with so much to do during the busy festive period – the timing just couldn’t be worse!

This week, 2 of my children have been struck down with sore throats and sniffles which usually results in lots of grumpiness all round – after scouring the internet for ideas on how to soothe sore throats, I thankfully came across Ultra Chloraseptic and some tried & tested home remedies, we’ve been able to shake them off quickly and with minimal fuss so that they could still enjoy all of the festivities!

Ultra Chloraseptic throat spray can be a game-changer during the festive season, especially when it comes to keeping kids in the holiday spirit while decorating the Christmas tree and engaging in all the festive fun. The soothing and fast-acting nature of the numbing throat spray provides quick relief at the point of pain, allowing us to fully enjoy ourselves without the discomfort of a scratchy or irritated throat. By alleviating throat pain, this convenient throat spray helps kids stay focused on the magical moments of decorating the season, within no time my kids were singing carols and Christmas songs just like always!  (Children must be over 6 to use, and care should be taken to avoid eating while throat is numb)

As winter blankets the UK in a chilly embrace, parents often find themselves combating these symptoms of the common cold that tends to afflict children during the season. While over-the-counter medications are a great help when you’re wondering how to soothe sore throats, there are other tried & tested methods to help too. Here are some of our favourites.

1. **Warm Honey Lemonade:**

One of the oldest and most effective remedies for soothing winter colds in children is warm honey lemonade. Honey possesses natural antibacterial properties, while lemon is rich in vitamin C. Combine a tablespoon of honey with the juice of half a lemon in a cup of warm water. This concoction provides a vitamin C boost, supporting the immune system. Ensure the honey is given only to children above the age of one to prevent any risk of infant botulism.

2. **Steamy Eucalyptus Baths:**

Eucalyptus is renowned for its decongestant properties, making it an excellent choice for relieving nasal congestion in children. Run a warm bath for your little one and add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the water. The steam produced will help clear nasal passages and ease breathing difficulties. Be cautious with the amount of oil used, as too much can be overpowering. Alternatively, you can place a few drops of eucalyptus oil in a bowl of hot water and allow your child to inhale the steam under supervision.

3. **Comforting Chicken Soup:**

Grandma’s remedy of chicken soup for a cold isn’t just a comforting tradition—it holds scientific merit. Chicken soup has anti-inflammatory properties and can help reduce the duration and severity of cold symptoms. Packed with nutrients, it provides hydration and nourishment to your child’s body. The warmth of the soup also helps soothe sore throats and ease congestion. Make it a family affair by involving your child in the kitchen, turning the preparation into a fun and engaging activity.

While winter colds in children may be inevitable, these home remedies and over the counter soothing solutions offer a gentle and nurturing approach to alleviating symptoms and supporting their overall well-being. Incorporating these tips into your winter routine can help not only soothe your child’s discomfort but also foster a sense of warmth and care during the festive season. As always, consult with a healthcare professional if symptoms persist or worsen, ensuring the best care for your little ones.
